Course Includes:
Unit 1: Kitchen safety and appliances are discussed and student is introduced to common cooking terms and several recipes are provided for the student to make.
Unit 2: Nutrition, food preparation, and ChooseMyPlate are introduced. Includes vitamins, minerals, and nutritive values of selected North American foods appendices.
Unit 3: Covers grocery shopping and efficient kitchen organization.
Unit 4: Covers planning menus, meal organization and preparation, and meal presentation.
Unit 5: Covers different types of textiles, sewing tools, and the basics of a sewing machine.
Unit 6: Develops sewing skills, and gives more detail about the sewing machine. Detailed instructions about constructing a quillow, patchwork pillow, and simple curtains are included.
Unit 7: Covers more sewing skills. Includes sewing collars, sleeves, and zippers. Also includes pointers for choosing and altering a pattern.
Unit 8: Focuses on Godly homekeeping. Discusses the purposes of a home, room furnishings and arrangements, and pointers for keeping a home in good order.
Unit 9: Covers child growth and development from infancy to 11 years. Discusses physical, mental, social, emotional, and spiritual growth and characteristics.
Unit 10: This final unit is about growing into Godly womanhood. Mental, physical, spiritual and social growth are discussed, followed by a section on modest behavior, singlehood and courtship.
