Marriage was not the invention of man, but was the key part of God’s creation that He viewed as being “very good.” God’s goal for a husband and wife, mentioned at least six times in the Bible, was that they be “one flesh.” This “oneness” was to extend to many different areas of human life. The husband and the wife were each given by God roles and responsibilities that when put together made one whole, complete unit of life.
