One of the most interesting and most profitable methods of Bible study is that of types. A type is a species of prophecy. Much New Testament truth is concealed in Old Testament types. Old Testament types illustrate specific Scriptural truths. The goal of The Savior in the Shadows curriculum is to aid the believer in understanding types which prefigure the person and work of Christ. In Colossians 2:16-17, the Jewish rituals and ceremonies of the Old Testament are spoken of as “a shadow of things to come, but the body is of Christ.” You cannot have a shadow unless there is an object to cast a shadow; and, according to this Scripture, Christ is the body that casts the shadows which we see in the Old Testament Scriptures. This series of studies is designed to impart Biblical truth on this exciting topic and enlighten new Christians and mature believers alike.
